Statement from Steve Crowther, Chairman of UKIP

Published May 11, 2015

“As promised Nigel Farage tendered his official resignation as leader of UKIP to the NEC. This offer was unanimously rejected by the NEC members who produced overwhelmingly evidence that the UKIP membership did not want Nigel to go.

“The NEC also concluded that UKIP’s general election campaign had been a great success. We have fought a positive campaign with a very good manifesto and despite relentless, negative attacks and an astonishing last minute swing to the Conservatives over fear of the SNP, that in these circumstances, 4 million votes was an extraordinary achievement.

“On that basis Mr Farage withdrew his resignation and will remain leader of UKIP. In addition the NEC recognised that the referendum campaign has already begun this week and we need our best team to fight that campaign led by Nigel. He has therefore been persuaded by the NEC to withdraw his resignation and remains leader of UKIP.”

Well we all know the outcome of the election now.

A Tory government returned to number 10 with a small majority.

The loss of party leaders, front line politicians and the hopes and aspirations of millions of voters are some of the results.

The Scottish National Party gained a massive increase in their number of MPs and with their leader Nicola Sturgeon they will be demanding concessions from the Conservatives.

The Labour party has collapsed into a state of crisis losing any influence in Scotland.

UKIP although losing an MP and having our leader Nigel Farage step down, increased our proportion of the national vote from our position in 2010.

It is the decision of the Bromsgrove Branch that we will put aside any recriminations that may well be held and concentrate on the future while watching the present and continue campaigning for a better future than we are now faced with under Tory control.

Voters denied a say.

A HUGE STEP FORWARD ON OUR GREAT JOURNEY

I am writing to thank you for the tremendous success you have delivered for UKIP in the 2015 General Election.

In the maelstrom of an election no-one predicted, with an extraordinary set of results for the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal-Democrats and SNP, UKIP has emerged as the third largest party in the country.

With our poll rating stubbornly sticking at 13-14% in recent weeks, we have returned a 13% result – despite the ‘SNP squeeze’ which saw the Conservatives’ “The Scottish Are Coming!” strategy transform the election in the last 48 hours.

With almost 4 million votes, we have one-third of the votes of the Conservatives, and 40% of those amassed by Labour. We have more than two-and-a-half times the votes of the SNP and more than three times those of the Greens. We have 21 times the votes of the DUP, who have eight seats in Parliament.

Across large swathes of the country, especially in the North of England, UKIP is now in second place, the challenger in 120 seats.

As our Leader, Nigel Farage has led us to this height with unique energy, character and verve. The barriers of the FPTP electoral system denied him, as so many others, his personal reward.

A strong team has been forged in the fire of this election. We build from today, towards 2020.

Thank you for your back-breaking work, your generous funding, your patience in adversity and your courage in the field, your enthusiasm and your camaraderie, your faith in the cause and your Belief in Britain.

Onward!

Steve Crowther,
Party Chairman

David Cameron walked into number 10 after doing the usual hugging of his wife bit for the cameras while smiling.

But and its a real but.

He will have to face 58 nationalists sat across the room and they are led by someone who wont take any rubbish from him.

He will have to walk a tight rope.

Give her a hard time and it will be handing her the excuse she wants to call another referendum for independence.

If that happens Cameron will be seen as the man who split up Great Britain.

On the other hand if he appeases her at every move he will be seen by the public as giving to much to the Scots.

I feel the smug little man will have the smile wiped off his face very soon.

With the cuts that he would not say where they would be falling, and the fact he will have to ensure they only effect Brits he will wish he had stepped down very very soon.

The Scottish  flag will be fluttering every day in parliament.

And the tactic of trying to laugh off the opposition which he used regularly will be a very very dangerous thing to do.

As all men realise unless you are talking to Joe Brand you do not laugh at the girls.

Beware the tartan handbag David.

Nicola will wrap it around you head if you dare upset her.

As a party we now need to focus on the future and how to move the party forward and prepare for 2020.
Because of our message about the European Union we now have the chance however slight that the government will renegotiate proper control of our boarders and laws.
Without our party this would never have happened.
So while we lick our wounds, reorganise and prepare for the next battles to come, lets take heart from the successful influences we have forced upon this government.

 BROMSGROVE UKIP BRANCH

The branch is comprised of a group of local people who are members of UKIP and who want to bring about a change to the way our country is run.

A return to true representation of the people and the reinstatement of the countries right for self governance, the making of our own laws and the right to trade with the world without restraints are some of our return to common sense policies.

No longer career politicians who fail to represent the electorate after they have made election promises, but instead representation by a new type of political party which is founded on the hopes and aspirations of the population who want common sense to be brought back into the way they are governed.
