UKIP Is Growing Bigger By The Day.

Why Not Join Us And Together We Can Help Bring About A Real Change To British Politics.

A Big Economic Day Today

News has been dominated overnight by Labour’s pledge to ban zero hours contracts lasting longer than 12 weeks (unless the workers involved specifically request an extension).

UKIP’s position:

Our party has been raising concerns about zero hours contracts for a long time. A year ago Nigel Farage recommended a tough new crackdown on them.

UKIP believes in a blanket ban on exclusivity clauses in zero hours contracts (ie a worker on a zero hours contract must not be banned from working for alternative employers.)

That a minimum notice period of 12 hours must be given by a company as regards the next shift it needs a zero hours worker to do (there have been shocking cases of workers turning up on site in the morning to hear whether or not there is any work for them that day).

That after a year on a zero hours contract a worker should be entitled to demand a transfer to a fixed hours contract or permanent post.

However, UKIP believes small businesses should be exempted from this final point as their low numbers of employees make it unreasonable to expect them to create permanent posts willy-nilly and the impact of forcing them to do so may be to kill off even the original zero hours vacancy.

OUR KEY POINT however is as follows; the spread of zero hours contracts is yet another symptom of the over-supply of labour for working class jobs because of open door immigration from the EU. Big corporate employers have been able to bid down both pay and conditions because they know that workers can be found from the low wage economies of southern and eastern Europe who will accept inferior terms.

Unless Labour ends freedom of movement across the EU, which it won’t, it cannot help British workers to higher wages or better conditions of employment. Only UKIP can do that. It is typical of Labour to wish to legislate against a symptom when the underlying problem is a labour market rigged in favour of the powerful – something it proposes to do nothing to change.

Letter to The Daily Telegraph

100 business chiefs have a letter in the Telegraph siding with the Tories and against Labour on economic stewardship.

UKIP’s position: Labour has a dreadful record on the economy and public finances so it is hardly surprising business opinion is against it.
We have no plans to reverse the coalition’s cuts to corporation tax and have also endorsed the Treasury’s deficit reduction schedule, pledging that UKIP MPs will be a fiscally responsible voice in the next parliament.

UKIP is a pro-business, pro-wealth creation party so we fundamentally agree with the thrust of the letter.

However, merely winning the backing of the leading lights of big business may not be the boon it once was for the Tories. Britain faces a living standards crisis and millions of people are concerned about some of the excesses of the corporate sector both in regard to zero-hours employment (see above) and corporate tax-dodging. UKIP is the only party that can be trusted to combine a pro-business approach with creating a fairer Britain.

Preparing for the TV Debate

Nigel will be having a relatively quiet day media-wise today, focusing on preparing for tomorrow’s big televised leaders’ debate.

Yesterday’s immigration poster launch was widely covered on broadcast media and in newspapers. His piece in the Daily Express yesterday is followed up today by two supportive letters in that newspaper’s letters page – a very good sign.

Have fun campaigning and make sure you get over our key argument about the impact of open door immigration on the pay and conditions of working people.

 BROMSGROVE UKIP BRANCH

The branch is comprised of a group of local people who are members of UKIP and who want to bring about a change to the way our country is run.

A return to true representation of the people and the reinstatement of the countries right for self governance, the making of our own laws and the right to trade with the world without restraints are some of our return to common sense policies.

No longer career politicians who fail to represent the electorate after they have made election promises, but instead representation by a new type of political party which is founded on the hopes and aspirations of the population who want common sense to be brought back into the way they are governed.

Take a look at the policy document on  Manifesto and UKIP Views    and read about the way UKIP wants to bring about real change to our country after years of political abuse at the hands of the mainstream parties.

Party Chairman welcomes ruling that confirms UKIP as a major party

Published Mar 16, 2015

steve-crowther.jpgReacting to Ofcom’s decision to recognise UKIP as a major party in the forthcoming elections, UKIP Chairman, Steve Crowther said,

“I am pleased to hear the ruling confirming that UKIP is now recognised as a major party.

“The fact that UKIP was the victor in the last two by-elections, in the European elections last year, whilst maintaining its regular polling in the high teens and is considerably ahead of the Liberal Democrats and in many parts of the country is supported by a quarter of the electorate or more means that this is simply a recognition of what everybody knows.”

In addition, UKIP Leader Nigel Farage has said: It’s great news that UKIP has been confirmed as a major party by Ofcom. It will cement in people’s minds: if you vote UKIP, you’ll get UKIP.”

Latest from the Office for National Statistics.

UKIPs Response

The number of Romanians and Bulgarians working in the UK has risen by 15% year-on-year, official figures have revealed.
UKIP Migration spokesman Steven Woolfe MEP said:  “I am sure that the residents of the UK will be as alarmed by these ridiculously high numbers of people coming into Britain, as I am. UKIP warned that opening the door to Romania and Bulgaria on January 1st would lead to more economic refugees into the country. The politically correct establishment condemned us at the time – but we were right.
“Until our political elites state categorically that  EU membership is a major cause of the UK’s wage lowering, uncontrolled, mass migration and broken unsecured borders, they will continue to fail the British people. And our national public infrastructure, services and finances will continue to take the strain of hundreds of thousands of new EU residents in Britain each year. When it comes to immigration, voting Conservative or Labour equals the same outcome. Open borders and hundreds of thousands of EU citizens coming and going into Britain as they please.  The pressure on  schools, hospitals and roads is increasing. It is time we took back control of our borders and who comes into our country  – but this can only happen by voting UKIP.”
